Diana Nield, author of children’s book Piggity-Wiggity Jiggity Jig, visited the Junior School on Monday. Year 7&8 students are preparing to write their own children’s picture books which will be published later this year.
Diana talked students through the process of developing the main character for their story, then considering a conflict for the main character, and the benefits of keeping our storyline simple.
It was fascinating to see the artists original sketches and then see how they developed into drawings and then water-colour paintings for each of the story illustrations. What a privilege it was for us to have this experience with a local published author!
