It is Makereta Mocesiuvea’s last year at Longburn Adventist College! When she was first transferred from Fiji in Year 12, she said she was “afraid and scared about the new curriculum (NZQA)”. However, with the help from all of our responsible teachers, Ma adapted so well and has now become an excellence and merit endorsement student.
“My classes flowed and I managed to balance my social life with my studies here at LAC.”, she said. Ma is always involved with bonding activities that the dorm deans frequently organize, such as baking and cooking. There are also a variety of ethnicities of students here at Longburn that allows everyone to learn about different cultures and make new friends.
“When I first came here I thought there was only going to be kiwis. But then I made friends with students from the same places where I came from!” Ma said, “… and I will truly miss all of them.”
