“The Year 10 trip to Wellington was in March and included visits to the Police College and Museum, the National Library and Parliament.
At the Police Museum we got to wear different police uniforms and also tried the fingerprint evidence procedure. The thing I learned and found interesting was that there are 3 types of fingerprint patterns, which are called the arch, whorl and loop.
Next we toured around the national library. I found it really cool how they had records or collections of all the daily newspapers even from years ago. After that we went to Parliament. I found it so awesome, because we actually got to go into the debating chamber, and listen to the politicians debating about something. It was pretty cool, because I’ve never actually been in a parliament building before and also because I learned a lot about how parliament is run.
On our way back to school we made a stop at Paraparaumu and were given time to go shopping for food. We all enjoyed the trip because we got to tour new places and learn new things.”
