The Year 7 and 8 students returned on Thursday (12 April) from their camp to Green Pastures in Wanganui. For the first time, we had three students and their principal, Renee Timmins, from the New Plymouth SDA school join us and share the experience. This was the beginning of a working relationship with their Year 7 and 8 students.
The students were heavily involved in the planning, and it was designed to be an ‘outdoor’ camp. However, the weather had other ideas and due to the rain and cold winds, we were forced to go with an alternative indoor programme. The students were amazing and adapted well to the changes, worked together and had a blast. We also had an incredible ‘dream team’ of helpers who were flexible and creative.
Overall, Junior Camp 2018 was a huge success. A big thank you needs to go out to Stephanie Ngarepa for her creativity and enthusiasm, Nigel Wright for his adaptability and game-playing skills, Andy Ward for being the best camp Dad who was always in the kitchen, making our job so much easier; Ellie Van, Bex King and Darren Ngarepa for being great leaders and bivouac builders, and Kofi Amoah for his awesome and engaging worships.
