INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIRST DAY OF 2017 | Upon arrival at school, listen for PA announcements which will direct each year level to the appropriate venue.
Note: Morning roll mark is at 8:40am daily. All students arriving after 9.00am must check in at the office to sign in and receive a ‘late note’. |
YEAR 11-13 SUBJECT CONFIRMATION | Most students for Y11-13 2017 have already chosen their subjects, and just need to turn up ready for classes on the first school day.
Please contact Mrs Aiono (tamara@lac.school.nz) if you are a new student in Y11-13 and have not yet chosen your subjects. |
LOCKERS | Lockers are available for an annual fee of $10. Payment should be made to Allison Flood in the school office.
Students who have had a locker in 2016 and wish to keep it in 2017 are able to do so upon payment of the annual $10 fee. New students and others may also secure a locker on payment of the fee. |
STUDENT HANDBOOK/DIARY | Parents and students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the content in the handbook. It contains detailed information about school procedures. ‘

UNIFORM | Students are expected to be in correct full uniform from their first day at school. Please ensure that all items are marked with the student’s name. If at any time your child cannot wear full and correct uniform, please send a note with an explanation. The student should then present the note to the Deputy Principal to receive a uniform pass for the day.
WHERE TO BUY TIES – Ties are worn during Terms 2 and 3 only. Purchase ties from the school office towards the end of Term 1 for $18 each. BLAZERS – Blazers are compulsory for Year 11-13 students, voluntary for Year 10 and are not required for Years 7-9. Blazers may be ordered through the school office (order form available from the accounts clerk), price range $190-200 (payable with order). Allow for a 4-6 week delivery time. Place orders by 17 March 2017. No further orders will be accepted after that date. SHOES – Students are expected to wear black leather lace-up shoes that have a heel, or black Roman sandals. It is required that regulation shoes be worn when in Technology rooms and Science Laboratories. No other footwear is acceptable. Sports shoes are required only for Physical Education and sports activities. EAR PIERCINGS – Female students are allowed one plain stud (clear, silver or gold colour, no larger than 5mm) in each earlobe. No extra piercings are acceptable. Girls are asked to ensure they do not turn up to school with ‘extra’ piercings as they will be asked to remove extra jewellery items. JEWELLERY – It is acceptable for students to wear a watch. No other jewellery is to be worn. HAIRSTYLES – Hair is to be clean, tidy and in a conservative style. One natural hair colour, limited use of hair products. Boys are to wear long hair tied back, and fringe hair should not be below the eyebrow in the front. Boys are reminded that facial hair is not to be displayed. The Principal is the final arbiter. MAKEUP – Obvious makeup is not permitted. HATS – Students are encouraged to be sun-smart and wear a hat when outside during breaks. An LAC hat is available. Hats are not worn inside buildings at LAC. JACKETS – LAC has a regulation jacket for the cooler months. These are to be the only jackets worn at school. |

BOARDING STUDENTS AT ALL YEAR LEVELS, PLEASE NOTE: |
YOU CAN CHECK INTO THE DORMITORIES between 9.00am and 4.00pm on either Sunday 29 January or Monday 30 January. If these times do not suit you, other arrangements can be made. Please contact Mrs Maria Henry (mariah@lac.school.nz) to confirm your time of arrival on the days mentioned, or to agree upon an alternative date/time.
WHAT TO BRING?
THE ACCOUNTS OFFICE WILL BE OPEN between 1.00 and 4.00pm on Sunday 29 January, and all day Monday 30 January, to finalise boarders’ fee-paying arrangements. Please note it is important that parents/caregivers be available for this if at all possible, as documents may need to be signed. |
CAMPS 2017 | YEAR 13 CAMP is planned for 21-24 March 2017, and more information will be sent in due course. Details of any other year levels’ camps will be advised at a later date. |
OFFICE HOURS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS | The school office will be closing at 2.00pm on Friday 16 December 2016 and will reopen at 9.00am on Monday 16 January 2017. |
