Over the Labour holiday weekend, Palmerston North hosted the 36th annual North NZ SDA volleyball tournament.
The tournament was one of the largest events ever held, with 90 church teams competeing from across the North Island and some travelling from Christchurch and all the way from Brisbane.
The LAC staff team, LAC Royals, competed in the mixed championship. Also taking part was the LAC Girls volleyball team in the social grade.
Yesterday the finals were played out at the B&M Arena and both teams came away with awards. LAC Royals won the Mixed A Championship with some very tight games against Palmy Army, Otara and the Palmy Family team.
The Girls volleyball team also did LAC proud by winning only one of the three special trophies for the whole tournament, the Team Spirit award.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and a big thank you to North New Zealand Conference for all of the organisation. We look forward to next years Basketball and Volleyball tournaments again being hosted in Palmerston North.
